“I want to take a look one more time. I’m not going to see this again.” —President Obama pausing while leaving his second inaugural ceremony to look out onto the crowd on the National Mall
“After the tragedy in Newtown, Hinna, age 8, wrote President Obama a letter asking him to take action on gun violence. Today, she joined the President at the White House as he announced his plan.”

Obama mentions his wife in his victory speech: “…The woman who agreed to marry me 20 years ago”
Romney mentions his wife in his concession speech: “… The woman I chose to marry”
It’s amazing how someone’s views on equality can come out in one simple sentence

“For my partisan Election Day Eve status I’m not going to be diplomatic or treat the issue with complexity because the intolerance, sleaziness, hatefulness, and irrationality of the Republican party in recent years has totally wiped out my ability to be open-minded or sensitive about differences of opinion on these issues when so much is at stake for my country and myself.
“If you do not vote Democrat tomorrow in state and federal elections, you are looking at your friends and family who are women, or queer, or of color, or poor, or young, or old, or immigrants, or sexual assault survivors, or sick, or could become sick, and you are saying to them “I don’t want you to succeed. I don’t care about your freedom or well-being.” Regardless of what has informed your politics up until now, if you vote conservative in this current political landscape, you need to be aware that you are using your vote to cause pain.
“The personal is sure as hell political, and tomorrow, it’s very, very personal.”

Students carrying around cardboard Obama in 2008, on election night
This was the photo I took when Obama won in 2008, and I was a Sophomore at Vassar. Celebrating with my dorm was one of my best memories.
My friend did a little research and found the origin of this image:
“Baby, who was rescued from a puppy-mill after nine years of confinement in a cage, cannot bark because her vocal chords were cut and also lost a limb due to maltreatment. Since being rescued and subsequently adopted by Dr. Kohl, Baby spends her time advocating for other abused dogs and animals. Baby’s plight also inspired a Congressional bill that would end the inhumane practice of lifetime confinement of breeding dogs. “Baby’s Bill” was proposed by bipartisan members of the House and Senate and will be voted upon in the next Congressional session.”
He’s a churlish little prick. At least Bush was affable…..I never in my lifetime thought I would see a creepier politician than Richard Nixon, but in the last few days, it became clear that Willard Mitt Romney is really, really creepy. Icky creepy, as my granddaughter would put it.
Great article written by Stephen Stills of Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young.
